Noah 3-week intern –

My time at Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary has been both eye-opening and rewarding. I interned for three weeks, and despite facing some technical difficulties with my camera, the opportunity to experience the elephants in an ethical and natural setting was incredible. Beyond the elephants, immersing myself in village life and the Karen culture through food, language lessons, and visits to the local nursery was the perfect addition to this experience. I leave with wonderful memories and a newfound appreciation for Asian elephants and the meaningful work KSES is doing.

Some of my favorite moments at the sanctuary include cooking with my homestay family, where we prepared traditional meals together, and watching baby Junior roll around in the mud, playfully interacting with his mum, Sri Prai, and dad, Dodo. The daily hikes through rice fields, cornfields, and mountains added to the beauty of the experience. The sanctuary is located in one of the most stunning parts of not only Thailand but the world.
