KSES is an unforgettable experience, filled with laughter, joy, friendships, and respect. When I first arrived, I felt a bit homesick, but the KSES team quickly helped me overcome it. I’ve had countless wonderful experiences, gaining knowledge and creating unforgettable memories.

Despite some tiring days, hiking and seeing the elephants was always the highlight. Each hike was a learning adventure, whether discovering a new insect, learning an elephant fact, finding a cool plant feature, or something entirely unrelated to the project.

Teamwork is crucial to me, especially as I study in the field of science. Being surrounded by people from around the world, seeing how they work, and hearing their stories provided invaluable learning experiences.

Even though I couldn’t speak with my homestay, Moo-Too, or the children, some of my happiest memories are with them. I learned that communication extends beyond words to emotions, hand gestures, and body movements.

I will forever cherish these memories. Some of my favourites include watching funny videos with Moo-Too and her teaching me how to skip rocks, movie and game nights at the base, Cristina’s amazing yoga sessions, random talks and rants during hikes, cooking with Kanda, and playing games with the village children.

Overall, coming to KSES has been one of the best decisions of my life. It’s truly an experience of a lifetime, and I highly recommend signing up even if you’re hesitant—I promise you won’t regret it!
