After 1-week volunteer at KSES, I feel really grateful.
First, the early morning hikes to find the elephants in the Forest are very cool. You immerse yourself in a natural environment, in the middle on nowhere, which I found very peaceful. The calm and the sounds of nature is something that I will miss. And the moment where you actually see the elephant is indescribable. You can watch them exhibit their natural behavior, foraging for most of their time, which is very interesting and makes you understand more about them. I could keep watching them for hours.
Also, I really enjoyed every moments spent in the village during the afternoons. As the photography intern, I really felt inspired by the everyday life in the village and those beautiful and kind people living here. One of my favorite moment has been the one at the nursery, teaching English to the children, and the litter pick up when all the kids got involved to help us, such a beautiful moment. So much things that I will never forget.
To conclude, I recommend 100% this experience to anyone who wants to immerse in the life of Karen people and learn about the elephants.
