Welcome to Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary!

There are more than 3,700 captive elephants in Thailand, most of whom are living in inadequate conditions with incorrect care and lack of freedom. Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary recognizes that this is not the right environment for elephants, which is why we are working towards bringing as many elephants as possible back to their natural habitat as well as raising awareness about the captive elephant situation. We work alongside our elephant owners, our community, our research partners and other organizations to try to bring about a brighter future for all captive elephants. We also partner with communities to protect the forest, the wild gibbons and other wildlife. Book a visit at our award winning sanctuary today!

Welcome to Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary!

We are a Non-Profit Foundation who are dedicated to giving our elephants the best life possible with the help of our visitors and volunteers.

Our aim is to bring elephants home to the forest by working with the local communities to not only provide a haven for our elephants, but also provide an alternative livelihood for their mahouts and owners.

As an award winning elephant foundation, we strive to bring elephants home to their natural environment, and provide as natural a life as possible for them, by working very closely with the local communities in our area who have been taking care of elephants for many generations. We first set-up KSES and have been working with the local communities here, and our elephants since 2016, however our team has been working as a part of many organisations for years before this. We are funded through our visitor program, which helps us to continue our work and provide for our elephants and local community.

Our programs protect the elephants and other wildlife in the forest, creating a project that benefits everyone.

Join us for an experience of a lifetime!!!

Do you LOVE elephants and want to help bring them home to the forest, improve their welfare and contribute to their conservation? Do you love gibbons and other wildlife? Do you like being immersed in new cultures and providing better opportunities for minority groups? Then we want to hear from YOU! We need visitors and volunteers on the ground to help us carry out research on our elephants' natural behaviors, gibbon population, help out with village projects and teach English to our community. Joining us can provide valuable in-field research experience, teaching experience and the opportunity to live abroad immersed in another culture - no previous experience required.

Internships length: 1-8 weeks

We currently run two internship programs; elephant research and photography. Places on our internships are continuous throughout the year but are subject to availability.
