An Extraordinary Journey
March 4, 2025By Sunyoung – 1 week intern
The place I went with the excitement of meeting elephants had beautiful nature and the sound of water. Get close to nature, interact with the smiling people of Karen Village, and hang out with chickens and dogs.
Dogs do not bark at people and are not aggressive. The first day was not easy getting used to the cold shower and the sound of the rooster crowing, but I soon got used to it and was able to adapt. It is a great joy to meet an elephant every day. You can buy fruit and snack ice cream at the occasional store. It’s so sweet to eat the packed lunch prepared by your homestay in the valley.
Meeting the steps and interns we met at the base and Kanda, who always guided us with a smile, was a great happiness.
The children who had fun doing art class were so lovely and the time was precious. When I fall asleep and close my eyes, I see the image of an elephant. I already miss Karen Village so much, with the sound of roosters crowing and water. If you have some room in your bag, it would be a good idea to bring some chocolate as a gift.
I’m glad met great friends from KSES.
I will never forget the memories there.
